• ~Psalm 46:4-5~

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

Worked For Us – Air Tents

Those dreaded words, “Mom, I’m bored!” They used to drive our mom crazy. Especially on rainy days. The solutions varied throughout the years. When we were teenagers, we found our way to the TV or the telephone. (Cell phones were still $1000 back then and two feet long.)

But as little kids, our favorite rainy day activity was to build tents, out of fitted sheets in our bedrooms. Our air-conditioner vents came through the floor. Although, if your AC vents are mounted along the bottom of the wall, this will still work. Mom would blast the AC and we would place books around the edges of the fitted sheet to hold it in place. The air would puff it up, creating a very cool tent.

After fifteen minutes, the air would cut off and the tent would sink. We’d get up and move everything to another room and start over when the air came back on. It kept us entertained for hours.

Wednesday, June 4th, is the last day to enter my hundred dollar Wal-Mart giftcard giveaway! There are FIVE prizes up for grabs. Check it out here.

  1. My sister and I would do the same. We loved our “sheet tents”. Thanks for the memory.

  2. My boys still build tents. Never thought of an air tent though. Cool!!

  3. We used to build tents over my mom’s formal dining room table. It was so much fun. I can’t wait to get a table so I can make one with my kids:)

  4. When me and your hubster (my bro for those who don’t know) were little my dad used to give us a paintbrush and a bucket of water. He has this huge black cabinet down in his workshop and we would “paint” that thing over and over again on a Saturday. The cabinet sat outside so on a hot Saturday, the “paint” would dry as fast as it was painted on.

It’s a great way to keep kids entertained without even being messy!

  5. Now that’s a cool idea! (get it, cool??) I’m going to try this one! :)
