There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

Seven Days of Summer: Day 1

Bri and I went to the pool again today. Hubster had to sleep off the night shift, so it was just the baby and me. Since I was a little leary of taking the camera near the water, I decided to show you the before and after pictures.

This is how I looked before I ever got out of the car. Hair neatly done. Make-up in place. Brown sunglasses to match my brown Crocs. I look like I’ve got everything together

Then, we get out of the car. I drag the stroller around, get Bri unbuckled, grab the two bags that contain all of our stuff. And we head off to a chlorine filled wonderland of fountains and children. We stake out a nice chaise lounge, which becomes the center point for our activities. We slather on the sunscreen before heading out to play.

Two hours later, we’ve made lots of friends, and Bri is getting that sleepy look in her eyes, so we decide to call it a day and head back to the van. First we stop off at the changing room, and put on our dry clothes. That’s where I left my nice brown sunglasses. Oops!

All in all, we had lots of fun! But, I’m a little embarrassed to show you what all that fun did to my hair.

Yikes! And you can see the sunburn, ever so slightly, as it starts to appear. I’m going to have to perfect my pool look before the end of the summer. Got any suggestions?

  1. People are trying to convince me to take the two boys to the pool. I do not think that I am brave enough to do it on my own. Wrangle thirty first graders, no problem . . . my own two kids at a pool – nada! There is just too much to tote there, including the boys.

I so feel your pain in the world of frizz control in the summer, especially after baking in the sun (then add humidity). I just bought the new line of Dove shampoo and conditioner that is Frizz Control to try. I used it this morning and I must say so far the wisps are at a minimum. Not too bad for after a downpour.

A product that works really well on wet or dry hair to control frizz is the Secret Weapon Finishing Creme by Frizz-Ease. I use this almost everyday and most of the time it helps. Today I was at Walmart and bought the Dove Frizz Control Taming Cream to try with the shampoo and conditioner. I hope this will help my frizz issues.

Good luck and I love the photos of Bri at the pool the other day – too adorable :)

  2. Hi. I wanted to let you know that I am having a drawing for one of my aprons. It ends tomorrow, just leave a comment on the post if you want to enter. It is from the same fabric as the pockets on the first apron.
