There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

Visit with Nana and Papa and Auntie B

We spent New Year’s Day at Nana and Papa’s house. Officer Hubster had to work so he didn’t get to listen to Bridoodle crying for the two hour trip. Lucky duck! However, once we arrived, everyone had lots of fun. Bri racked up with tons of presents. Her favorite gift seemed to be the Disney princess ride toy. She hopped on it before we could even get the cardboard off. She knew exactly what to do with it!

Bri's new toys

My sister (a.k.a. Auntie B) stayed home from the Capital One bowl game so that she could hang out with us. She had an offer to go for free, along with her brand-new fiancee and his family, but she turned them down so that she could visit with us. I felt so special!

Auntie B helped me decorate a gingerbread house that Mom bought in a kit. It turned out so cute! The construction of the finalized house had to be delayed due to a problem with budgeting. The amount of allocated icing did not fully supply our housing needs, so we had to improvise with cake icing. I’m not sure if it will meet code or not.We also enjoyed tasting all of the candies included in the kit! Bri got in on some of that action too.

I think the funniest part of the trip was listening to my sister’s parenting advice while we worked on the house and watched the football game. She seems to know a lot about raising a kid for someone who swears she doesn’t want one!

Papa and Bri

Seriously though, Auntie B gave Bridoodle the cutest little book for Christmas. It’s about a girl with red boots. Bri took her favorite new book over to Papa and climbed up in his lap so that he would read it to her. Precious!

Then she brought it back to me so that I could read it too. She also had a lot of fun climbing all of the stairs in Nana and Papa’s house. She liked to go all the way to the top and then hold my hands while she hopped her way back down.

  1. Sounds like a good time! Bri is adorable!

The part about the gingerbread house being up to code cracked me up! 🙂

  2. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your family. I can not believe how big Bri is, such a cutie. I think we need to tell the kids to stop growing up so quickly.
